Unable to relay through this MTA
When you try to send and receive e-mail, do you get the following error?
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
’someone@thisdomain.com’ on 2/7/2005 11:03 AM
553 sorry, that domain isn’t allowed to be relayed thru this MTA
(#5.7.1)
If you can not send e-mail and consistently receive this error, than you don’t have SMTP AUTH enabled. In an ongoing effort to combat spam, Weberz requires that all customers that relay mail through our mailservers enable SMTP AUTH to authenticate the user as a valid mail user.
To correct this problem, you need to configure the advanced settings of your e-mail client to login to your mailserver with SMTP AUTH. To do this in Microsoft Outlook (2000, XP and 2003) click tools –> Email Accounts.
This will open the Email Accounts window. Make sure that “View or change existing e-mail accounts” is selected and click next. This will bring up a listing of all e-mail accounts that are setup in your Outlook profile. Highlight your Weberz account and click change. This will bring up the account settings.
Click the More Settings button, then click the outgoing server tab. Check the box that says “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Make sure that “Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected. Click Ok, then click next, then click finish. This will bring you back to the main Outlook screen. You should now be able to send e-mail.
